At SK8 Tutoring, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, understood, and capable of success. Founded by Kate Smith, a qualified teacher and SENCO with over 20 years of experience, we provide specialist tuition for children with SEND and those needing a more personalised approach, in a welcoming, sensory-friendly space. Our approach is neuroaffirming, creative, and child-led, helping children to rebuild confidence and re-engage with education on their own terms.
Individualised Support
At SK8 Tutoring, we tailor our support to meet the specific needs of each child. Our specialised sessions are designed to empower children with SEND, fostering a love for learning and personal growth.

Neuroaffirming Approach
Using a neuroaffirming approach, we embrace the unique strengths of each child, creating a positive and empowering environment for children with SEND to thrive.
Children's sensory needs are always taken into account and children have free access to things like fidget toys, wobble cushions and a peanut ball to help support sensory regulation. Movement is actively encouraged in all sessions and children make choices about what they need and what helps them.
When children feel safe and regulated they make academic progress.
Sensory-Friendly Environment
Our welcoming environment is carefully designed to provide a calm, quiet space perfect for children needing a homely space to engage again with learning.

Parent Collaboration
We believe that meaningful collaboration with parents and carers is essential to every child’s success. Before we begin working together, I take time to understand each family's story, values, and hopes. I invite parents to share professional reports and EHCPs so I can tailor support that truly honours their child’s unique needs.
After each session, I offer feedback and always celebrate the wins — big or small.
Progress is never just academic; it’s emotional, relational, and deeply personal.

She came out of every session beaming - obviously a comfortable nurturing environment where she was able to express herself.
Kate's knowledge and experience in the education sector oozes out of every conversation she has and activity she plans. Each session has a clear focus and builds on the learning and skills from previous sessions.
